Experimenting with Traditional Motifs

I started this experiment years ago. It's supposed to be an infusion of silhouette-like images with traditional motifs as design elements. As for the choice of colors, I want to restrict myself to complimentary colors now. ' Behind the Wall ' is about a couple eavesdropping very close to the door and ' Mai Ruwa ' is Hausa language for ' Water carriers ', this is about men water-peddlers in the city. While some push their wares around on carts others carry theirs on the shoulders. The next piece should be ready by this weekend.

The watercolor sketches above are products of a previous visit to a village in Sango-ota, Ogun state Nigeria.

Sweet sound

At times it takes some level of concentration to get the best out of the musical instrument. Sweet sound can not be compromised.

The 'Guitar' is a well known musical instrument while the 'Sekere' is a traditional musical instrument from Africa. It's sound serves as good supports for other musical instruments such as the drums.

Abuja, Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria is beautifully landscaped. The paintings are from a recent visit, painted without any prior pencil sketch. I must confess it was a wonderful working experience. Happy viewing.
