There is nothing as good and refreshing as doing what we love doing best while making a living. The presentations above is my recent impression of people at work. I sometimes wonder whether people derive the same satisfaction I get from the process of making art.

Experimenting with Traditional Motifs

' Behind The Wall ' 26" x36" Oil on canvas 2012

' Mai Ruwa ' 48 x 68cm Oil on canvas 2007

I started this experiment years ago. It's supposed to be an infusion of silhouette-like images with traditional motifs as design elements. As for the choice of colors, I want to restrict myself to complimentary colors now. ' Behind the Wall ' is about a couple eavesdropping very close to the door and ' Mai Ruwa ' is Hausa language for ' Water carriers ', this is about men water-peddlers in the city. While some push their wares around on carts others carry theirs on the shoulders. The next piece should be ready by this weekend.

Thanks for viewing, God bless you.

NB. These works are also available for sale.

' Sanity ' 24" x 45" Oil on Canvas 2008

' Crucifix ' 27" x 35.5" Oil on Canvas 1998

These pieces are part of some early encounters in simplification of forms. Making art could be so sweet and fulfilling. I'm quite grateful to God for giving me the grace to identify what He has placed in me. I also thank you for being a part of the whole process. God bless you.

Sweet sound

'Guitar boy', 20cm x 27cm, Water colour on paper

'Sekere', 20cm x 27cm, Water colour on paper
At times it takes some level of concentration to get the best out of the musical instrument. Sweet sound can not be compromised.
The 'Guitar' is a well known musical instrument while the 'Sekere' is a traditional musical instrument from Africa. It's sound serves as good supports for other musical instruments such as the drums.

There is this beautiful view of Ikeja, G.R.A landscape off one of my studio windows at Opebi, Lagos, Nigeria. Lots of greenery I couldn’t resist painting.

I took time to observe awhile and then leave the scenery to paint from memory. Had a great time experimenting with various Cotsman Watercolor paper grams Sometimes, In each of the works above, I tried  to depict  different moods of the day with one or two additional structures to balance the composition . They are follow-up to some watercolor painting exercise  from my trip to Abuja, Nigeria last month (March).

It was late afternoon during maize season, the aroma of freshly plucked maize being roasted is always inviting in this part of the world, most especially before lunch or dinner is ready. When I come across scenes like this it usually reminds me of my growing years.

River side

'River side' Acrylic on canvas. 12" x 38".2012

This painting is imaginative, dates back to child-hood years when we visit the village and watch as the locals bring their laundry to the river to wash. The village is called Ajegunle-ota and the river is called River Agunloye in Ogun state of Nigeria.
The work started from the panel on the left (P-1). After signing off the initial painting I was not too satisfied with the outcome. So I had to add the other panel (P-2) while introducing some elements that would compliment the other one (P-1}.

Below are the details of the individual panels. Thanks for viewing and if you are interested in the original you can e-mail me: oluseyi.ajayi@gmail.com.
