Portraiture

This is a commissioned work' 21" x 33" Oil on canvas.

The couples' picture where they are together was not available so I had to arrange different pictures, shot at different occasions to make the painting. Quite interesting at that.

There is nothing as good and refreshing as doing what we love doing best while making a living. The presentations above is my recent impression of people at work. I sometimes wonder whether people derive the same satisfaction I get from the process of making art.

Experimenting with Traditional Motifs

I started this experiment years ago. It's supposed to be an infusion of silhouette-like images with traditional motifs as design elements. As for the choice of colors, I want to restrict myself to complimentary colors now. ' Behind the Wall ' is about a couple eavesdropping very close to the door and ' Mai Ruwa ' is Hausa language for ' Water carriers ', this is about men water-peddlers in the city. While some push their wares around on carts others carry theirs on the shoulders. The next piece should be ready by this weekend.
