On the easel-Red earth

'Red earth' (3 panels) 8,5" x 28" Oil on canvas

Pencil sketch

Presently on the easel, the painting was inspired by a portion of land outskirt of the city where red earth is excavated to fill-up building (structure)'s foundations in the city.
The two panels at the edges are 8.5" x 9" while the middle one is 8.5" x 10" and the medium is oil on canvas. I have decided to be impressionistic with these and can't just wait to complete it. This is about 2 hours of working. Thanks for viewing.

Water colour Portraiture

'Tunde, Cathy & Olivy
Just like the previous post, this was composed from three different photographs. The medium, due to it;s transparent nature was quite a challenge, most importantly where you really need to work at resemblance.
Below are the original pictures:

Portraiture

This is a commissioned work' 21" x 33" Oil on canvas.
The couples' picture where they are together was not available so I had to arrange different pictures, shot at different occasions to make the painting. Quite interesting at that.

After about 5 hours

Another 6 hours
This is still on my easel and I hope to tidy it up before weekend. Thanks for viewing.

There is nothing as good and refreshing as doing what we love doing best while making a living. The presentations above is my recent impression of people at work. I sometimes wonder whether people derive the same satisfaction I get from the process of making art.

Experimenting with Traditional Motifs

' Behind The Wall ' 26" x36" Oil on canvas 2012

' Mai Ruwa ' 48 x 68cm Oil on canvas 2007

I started this experiment years ago. It's supposed to be an infusion of silhouette-like images with traditional motifs as design elements. As for the choice of colors, I want to restrict myself to complimentary colors now. ' Behind the Wall ' is about a couple eavesdropping very close to the door and ' Mai Ruwa ' is Hausa language for ' Water carriers ', this is about men water-peddlers in the city. While some push their wares around on carts others carry theirs on the shoulders. The next piece should be ready by this weekend.

Thanks for viewing, God bless you.

NB. These works are also available for sale.
